This age of technology and AI is putting our intuition out of business.
When I was little, I would always ask for a sign. From smaller things like which best friend to pick to bigger things like whether to quit a sport. I would walk down the road and see a flyer and be like, “Yes, that’s the answer! I should choose Kim” (because the word KIM stood out on a random plumbing flyer on the floor and my question about whether to let Kim or Liesel sit with me in the front row was foremost on my mind).
These days, trying to decide whether to take a sabbatical or splurge on a new dishwasher is harder. The internet will throw things at me before I have had time to consult my inner compass. Next thing, Bosch is following me on Instagram.
The Tech Overload
Our intuition is being hijacked by the constant barrage of information and recommendations. No longer do we pause to think; we Google, we ask Alexa, we scroll through endless reviews. It’s like our inner voice has been gagged and replaced by a loudspeaker from Silicon Valley.
Remember when you used to feel out decisions with your gut? Now it’s more like, “Let me check the best-rated option on Google.” Whether it’s deciding on a new restaurant or contemplating a career change, the internet has opinions, ads, and algorithms ready to swoop in and tell you what to do.
And yet, all the big and important decisions I’ve ever made in my life have come straight from my gut. I get a clear feeling and I act on it.

So what are we to do, my friends? Well, here are my top tips to try and get your intuition back in working order:
1. Give Yourself a Tech Timeout
Schedule regular tech-free times to unplug and reconnect with your thoughts and feelings. You might be surprised at how clear your intuition can be without the digital noise. Especially in the shower.
2. Practice Mindfulness
Spend a few minutes each day being present. Whether it’s through meditation, deep breathing, or even walking and talking to yourself. (Don’t knock it till you try it!Me and Me have such cool chats on my daily walk). You can get such clarity when you’re relaxed and alone.
3. Trust the First Instinct
Your first instinct is often the best guide. Please try and listen to your gut before turning to Google. and trust yourself. I do!
In a world where technology tries to dictate our every move, it’s crucial to reclaim our intuitive powers. By taking tech timeouts, practising mindfulness, and trusting our first instincts, we can keep our inner compass functioning and relevant. So, next time you’re deciding between a sabbatical and a dishwasher, maybe look for a sign on a flyer—or better yet, trust that little voice inside your head. After all, it’s got your best interests at heart.
I see you,
